A. WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
- Information you give us. During the recruitment process, the panel registration process, or as part of a research study or survey, you provide us with information. This may include:
- “Personal identifying information,” which means information by itself – like your first and last name, home postal address or personal email address – or in combination with other information, that could identify a specific individual
- Demographic information such as gender, marital status, occupation and other information.
- Information in connection with your participation in surveys and/or studies. These surveys request additional information such as your behaviors and preferences and help us better understand consumer behavior, use, and trends.
- Any content or material you choose to submit, upload or transmit, including without limitation, photos, videos, images, or the likeness of the individual submitting the content in connection with your participation in market research activities.
- You may be offered the opportunity to participate in market research activities through a third party service such as Facebook. If you select such option, we may collect certain profile information stored in your social media platform account.
- Information collected from your use of our Site and software. When you use our Site or any of our software, and participate in market research activities, we may collect information about your device, system and network. This includes information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the type of browser you are using, the date and time of your visit, the web page you have visited immediately prior to visiting this Site, device identifier, device model, operating system, and language set. For information about cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs or other digital technologies that may be used in connection with your participation, please see the section on Cookies and Other Digital Technologies.
You may also be invited to participate in certain research studies or surveys that ask you to download software, and/or interact with other companies, websites or applications. In the event that additional information is collected, it will be disclosed to you prior to, or at the time of initial collection. You may also be asked to accept other terms in connection with your participation.
B. HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE US
- We use the information we collect to create a variety of research insights for our clients. In research in which the participants are intended to remain anonymous, we use tools and methods to make sure that there is no reasonable possibility of identifying an individual participant in the reports that we create for our clients. For example, we combine the responses we collect from you with the responses of others to produce “aggregated” reports.
Our research insights help our clients make choices about product development and marketing.
- We may use the information you give us to contact you. When we contact you – by phone, email, SMS, or postal mail depending on what information you provide to us – we will usually do so for one of the following reasons:
- to respond to your inquiries;
- to validate answers you gave;
- to update our records to ensure your information is correct;
- to send you information regarding your participation such as how to redeem awards;
- to provide a statement regarding changes to our terms, conditions, and policies;
- to tailor survey opportunities to you; or
- to offer you additional research opportunities through studies and surveys.
If you provide your phone number, you agree that we may call you, and you agree that we may use an automatic telephone dialing system or prerecorded voice to do so.
C. WHEN WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We may share your personal identifying information:
- With third parties who provide services for us such as website application hosting; data analysis; infrastructure provision; IT services; email delivery service; credit card processing; auditing services; and reward, incentive, sweepstakes, and other similar services.
- With other companies for the purposes of data processing or market research product development purposes. These companies are contractually required to keep this information confidential and secure and are not permitted to use this information for any other purpose except to carry out the services that they are performing for us.
- To other companies, including clients, in accordance with market research guidelines. If any such company receives your personal identifying information (whether provided by us to such company or collected by such company directly from you), such company will be bound to keep the information confidential and secure and use it only for research or statistical purposes.
- To identify you to anyone to whom you send messages through the Site.
- In other ways for which we provide specific notice prior to, or at the time of initial collection.
- To a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
- As we believe to be necessary or appropriate: (a) under applicable law; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; (d) to enforce our terms and conditions; (e) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or others; or (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.
D. YOUR CHOICES AND ACCESS
Participation in our studies is always voluntary.
Community members may terminate their membership by: clicking on the unsubscribe link contained in an invitation and following the instructions on the “Unsubscribe” page or by contacting us via email.
E. ABOUT CHILDREN
The Site and our market research activities are not intended for children under the age of thirteen (13), and we request that children not provide personal identifying information through the Site. If we become aware that we have collected personal identifying information from a child under the age of 13, we will immediately delete that information from our records.
F. COOKIES AND OTHER DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
We use long-standing digital technologies on our Site and in connection with our market research activities for the various purposes described below.
- Digital technologies. We may use the cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs. Session cookies, persistent cookies, and Local Shared Objects (such as Flash cookies and HTML5) in connection with the Site and our research activities. These technologies are used for a variety of purposes, including, without limitation, to facilitate navigation, to display information more effectively, to better serve you with more tailored information, for security purposes such as to detect duplicate panel members and combat fraudulent participation, as well as for online tracking and monitoring for panelist online advertisement exposure. We may also use these technologies to gather statistical information about the usage of the Site in order to continually improve the design and functionality, to understand how users use the Site, and to assist us with resolving questions regarding the Site.We also use third parties to provide services to and certain functionality to us, including, without limitation, fraud detection services and member support services such as payment verification.
The cookies used on this Site and in connection with our market research activities may be grouped into the following types:
- Essential cookies are strictly necessary in order for the Site to perform basic functions such as to prevent fraud and display the Site in the appropriate language. These cookies enable you to navigate around the Site and use the features that you have requested, such as accessing secure areas of the Site. Without these cookies, we cannot provide the services that allow this Site to operate.
- Performance cookies collect anonymous information about how visitors use the Site. These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by providing information about the areas visited, the time spent on the Site, and any issues encountered, such as error messages. This information helps us improve the performance of the Site. We also use third party analytics providers such as Google Analytics to help us analyze how visitors use the Site.
- Functionality cookies improve your experience at the site. These cookies can, for example, remember information such as your user name, language, or location preference. These cookies may be used to provide services you have requested such as watching a video, commenting on a blog, or interacting with third party services like social media features. - Ad effectiveness cookies will be used for research purposes by measuring the types of advertisements that you see on the websites or applications that you use (whether such websites or applications are owned or operated by us or by unrelated third parties), the number of times that you see those ads, and the addresses of the websites or the name of the application where you saw those ads. Specifically, this technology will identify tags contained in certain online or mobile advertisements relating to our clients and will update us when you are exposed to these advertisements so that we can seek your participation in relevant research activities. The information collected will not include any personal identifying information; however, we may tie the information gathered by the technology to your personal identifying information that we already collected or received from you.
- Advertising cookies provide non-personally identifying preference information used by advertisers, publishers, and content providers, to specify an ad, a group of ads, or content to be displayed to a particular device.

As a quality control measure and to maintain the integrity of our digital research, we may use a digital fingerprinting technology, also known as “machine identification” technology, to gather certain information about your device. This information is sent to a trusted third party who converts it into a unique serial number for your computer – the digital fingerprint – through the use of a proprietary algorithm, and determines if it matches any previous digital fingerprint. This technology does not collect any of your personal identifying information or track your online activities. - Watermarking. Watermarking involves placing a technology or file on your device to identify that it has previously been used in connection with our market research activities. Watermarking is used for quality control and validation purposes and fraud detection and/or prevention purposes. We may engage in watermarking activities directly or through a third party vendor.
- Technology Used to Secure Images. We occasionally employ technology to provide security of images displayed during our research activities. A script embedded in certain pages displaying images prevents you from using your computer’s clipboard when you are on that page. The script is used only for certain images that are presented while you participate in applicable research activities. Information you may have copied to your clipboard is not captured or read, but is overwritten with blank data to prevent the secure images from being copied to your clipboard. We recommend that you paste any information that you have copied to your clipboard before commencing a research activity.
Please be aware that we do not respond to Do Not Track signals on our Site or in connection with our market research activities.
As a participant in our market research activities, you consent to the use of the above technologies, and we request that you do not opt out for the duration of your membership.
G. THIRD PARTY SITES
This Notice does not address, and we are not responsible for, the privacy, information or other practices of any third parties, including any third party vendors or those operating any site to which this Site contains a link. The inclusion of a link on the Site does not imply endorsement of the linked site by us or by our affiliates. If you import your information from a third party service like Facebook, you are subject to that site’s user agreement, located outside the Site.
H. DATA SECURITY AND TRANSFER
We use reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures to protect your personal identifying information under our control. We may store and process your personal identifying information in your home country and/or we may transfer and export that information outside of the European Economic Area to any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers and processors, including the United States and India. The data protection laws of other countries may differ from those in your home country. Please be aware that storage and communication of data cannot always be one-hundred percent secure.
By participating in our market research activities, you consent to transfer of personal identifying information to countries outside of your country of residence. By way of clarification, by voluntarily disclosing sensitive information to Concept Lab, you expressly consent to the transfer of sensitive information by us to any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers and processors, including the United States and India.
I. DATA RETENTION
We will retain your personal identifying information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Notice and in with accordance with law.
J. UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE
We may change this Notice. We will post a prominent notice on this web page to notify you of any significant changes to our Notice and indicate at the top of the page when the Notice was last revised. You may view the currently effective Notice at any time by checking the Notice posted on this Site. Your continued participation after the effective date of any changes will constitute your acceptance of all effective changes.
